Meet Lucas!

As one of our newest employees, Lucas has been a huge help for the rental team as a part of the live events division. We sat down to ask him a few questions so that you could get to know him a little better!

What is your role at Cory's Audio Visual?

I am a Rental Technician in the live events department which means that I am responsible for the delivery, setup, and pickup of audio visual technology, while also forging and maintaining good relationships with clients new and old. Most days I arrive at the shop and look through the daily work orders, divide them up amongst Darin and myself and then loading up my van with the necessary equipment to fulfill the daily orders. Usually, I am setting up small PA systems for meetings or small conferences. Sometimes I assist the technical directors by helping them pull the right technology out of our large inventory for upcoming shows.

What part of your job is your favorite?

There are multiple parts of the job that I enjoy, from interacting with clients to learning about the advances in technology in the audio visual industry and getting to get hands on experience with the technology. My favorite part of the job is the people, ever since I started working for Cory’s Audio Visual, the people that I have been working with have made me feel like family. I also really enjoy being able to visit different places in the city that I would not normally have visited on my own.

What is your most memorable moment so far?

My most memorable experience so far has to be assisting with the load in for Saxum’s holiday party and open house. These moments stick out because, prior to these events, I did not have a ton of experience setting up lights and this provided me with some hands-on training that I will never forget. I also enjoyed seeing the vision of the client come to life as we set up lights throughout their office.

Outside of work, you can be found...

Outside of work, I can be found improving my guitar playing skills and spending time with my family. Depending on the time of year I can also be found tending to my vegetable garden, and working to get the best harvest I can before the season ends. I also moonlight as the audio engineer for a local church on Sunday mornings and then hop over to my home church for their late morning service.
