Client Shout Out: Marriott Norman Conference Center

We are highlighting one of our hospitality friends at Marriott's Conference Center at the National Center for Employee Development (NCED) in Norman, Oklahoma. Vincent Oliveros shares why Cory's Audio Visual is the right fit for their audio visual needs. 

Q: Why do you choose Cory's Audio Visual?

A: I choose Cory’s Audio Visual because they provide the professional services that I expect from a large audio visual company but with the hospitality and feel of a small, locally-owned business. I like being able to call or e-mail the department I need and getting a response right away from an actual human. If I need something urgent, I don’t want an automated message, I want someone on the other end of that phone call with my options and Cory's Audio Visual provides that for me.

Q: How has the Cory's Audio Visual team helped you reach your goals?

A: Over the years, I’ve worked with every department at Cory’s Audio Visual. When I have a guest with an odd AV request for equipment that I don’t keep on-hand, I can contact their rental department and they will get what I need, even on the day-of for those last minute requests, which we all know can be too common. The Sales & Integration departments have worked with me on many projects over the years and they easily adjust and adapt when I tell them I have a new budget to work with or if I need to make a major change to a proposal. With their knowledge and help, I’m able to keep everything running smoothly which equates to a positive guest experience.   

Q: What is your biggest technology challenge? 

A: Like most places, we can't upgrade our equipment every 6 months when something new comes out. I have to be able to adapt to what's new and learn about it so I can pass the information along to guests or my coworkers. Over the years, I've amassed a large collection of adapters just to be able to connect any laptop, tablet, or streaming box to all of our AV systems.

Q: What advice do you have for professional just like yourself?

A: Never say NO. I always need to be able to give guest an alternate option if I'm not able to provide exactly what they want. Use any available resources you have, even if it is to use a third party. There have been many times when using the alternate option turned out better than the original request. Another big piece of advice is the age old saying, "you get what you pay for." This is especially true in the Audio visual industry. Stick with the major brands and recommendations from an AV pro and don't get something from Amazon or eBay just because it's a fraction of the price, you truly get what you pay for with audio visual equipment.
